Welcome to a research run by The Patients Voice which is to find out the opinions of patients who use CPAP machine to treat their Sleep Apnea.
At The Patients Voice we often use blogs to help us design future research with patients by finding out what are the important issues regarding their conditions and medication. This is to understand the ups and downs of using a CPAP machine for treating Sleep Apnea.
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines were originally developed for the treatment of sleep apnea but are now used in many intensive care units for patient ventilation. Obstructive Sleep Apnea takes place when the upper airway narrows during sleep. This lowers the oxygen level in the patient’s blood stream and makes them wake up.
A CPAP machine stops this obstruction by delivering a flow of air under pressure via a nasal pillow, nose mask or full-face mask. Not just does this prevent the patient waking it also helps with the snoring which is also a symptom of Sleep Apnea.
The Patients Voice is very keen to hear your Sleep Apnea story through this research blog
In particular we are interested in the following questions:-
Please do feel very free to raise any other points you may think would interest other readers of the blog. If you have any information resources you think would be of value to readers of this blog do feel free to post about them.
Even if you do not use a CPAP machine we would be very interested to know a bit more about the treatments you do use and how effective they are in dealing with you Sleep Apnea.
If you have not participated in a research blog before the process is very simple. To take part, all you need to do is scroll down to the comments area, type in a nickname of your choice and then put your comments into the box. We look forward to reading your comments and, of course, thank you very much for your input!
Remember, a blog is really like having a conversation with lots of people at the same time and so please check back on the blog to see what others have said so that if you would like to add to their thoughts you can.
If you have not already done so we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join The Patients Voice.
