Have your say Diabetes Specialist Nurses! Welcome to the Healthcare Professionals Voice Research Blog.
A research blog is one of the new wave of methods we use to find out the opinions and thoughts of people who work in healthcare.
The role, as we know, of diabetes specialist nurses has become more and more important, especially with the dramatic rise in diabetes. The reason we are running this blog is that according to the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health new cases of diabetes have risen 74% between 1997 and 2004. This means that the prevalence of diabetes is now over 4% in the UK.We have therefore launched this research blog to find out a bit more about the challenges and needs of DNSs over the next few years.In particular we are interested in the following questions:-
• What do you consider to be the key objectives of a diabetes specialist nurses
• What are the main causes of the rise in diabetes in the UK?
• What are the main ways that diabetes specialist nurses can help lower the rate of diabetes
• What are the main challenges and problems which DNSs as a profession face?
These questions are only a guide and so please do not hesitate to bring up any other issues that you consider are relevant to you.
