Arthritis
Arthritis is a condition of joint pain in the body and a sore ache in the bones. Arthritis is often associated with older people, but it can affect all age groups even children. Arthritis is one of the top causes of disability in people over fifty-five years and women are three times more likely than men.
The causes are yet unknown but some research suggest that it is may be partly hereditary.
There are two main types of arthritis:
Osteoarthritis often known as degenerative joint disease due to the cartilage between the bones disintegrating making the bones rub together. This often causes a sore ache in the bones and joint pain.
Rheumatoid arthritis often known as inflammatory arthritis affects the immune system. The lateral pain it causes can be quite severe because flexibility strength is reduced due to joints swelling becoming red, stiff and sore and deterioration of the bone and cartilage.
There are over 200 other forms of arthritis.
The way arthritis develops varies from person to person. Some of the frequently affected areas of joint pain are:
It is usually accompanied by a feeling of weakness or tiredness and in most cases the lateral pain can be quite unbearable that specialist treatment is needed.
Treating diseasedarthritis can be quite difficult because there is no standard treatment. Medication and physiotherapy are recommended to ease and relieve the sore ache and pain. Physical activity is also advised if possible, to keep the muscles and joints flexibility strength (1900) and to slow down the disease from spreading.
Another treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis is surgery. This is done by replacing permanently deformed joints with artificial ones. However this is only performed when medication and physiotherapy are not beneficial.
Some doctors may recommend a diet but diet and fat intake are not thought to be contributory factors.
